Dance Company

Founded in 2014 by danseuse and actor Rima Kallingal , Mamangam Dance Company aims at creating a unique movement vocabulary reflecting Kerala’s artistic and cultural landscape, holding space for contemporary perspectives and conversations through art.

An ever growing dance lab, our creative process is an endeavour in innovating a contemporary reimagination of our folk, classical and martial art traditions.

Neythe weaves Kerala's handloom legacy into a brilliant choreography with complex new mediums and gestural freedom. The ensemble beautifully juxtaposes minimalist tradition with maximalist modernity. I could see a profound commitment radiating through their shared energy. Hands down, an extraordinary contemporary performance by Mamangam!

Rima's production, Neyth, stands out from the usual empty spectacles of modern theater. It brings a profound sense of depth and meaning to a traditional way of life, with every movement on stage showing a graceful and vigorous blend of artistry.

NEYTHU is a carefully and tastefully woven creation, the like of which has never been experienced before.Choreographing a piece with just the rhythmic sound of the handloom house as the backdrop, without lyrics, is truly a challenge.But this risky challenge gracefully transforms the cotton to yarn and then to cloth, on stage, each thread etching the artistry behind neythu.This is one of the outstanding choreographies I had ever witnessed in my fifty-year long journey as a curator of arts,Rima Kallingal deserves laurels for the concept, design choreography and teamwork.
